Neighbourhood Policing

Police Force:
Find a Local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

Keyham is a vibrant and thriving community. The population for the area is just under 6,000. There are three primary schools in the area along with three nursery schools. There is also an annexe of the City College on Saltash Rd. There are a number of community facilities, the most significant of which is Keyham Green Places, situated on Renown Street.

The neighbourhood team has developed a good relationship with local people and has worked hard to improve relationships between the community and  its young people. This has led to a significant reduction in the amount of antisocial behaviour that is reported. The PACT process has been a key feature in achieving this.

Meanwhile, parking and obstruction is a frequent problem due the many narrow Victorian terraced streets. We can help with this, but as with any type of parking, common sense has to be used and remember that there is no automatic right to park outside or near to your property.

As your local neighbourhood police team, we know only too well that tackling crime and anti-social behaviour is not just a job for the police.

Besides relying heavily on the co-operation of the local community, we also work very closely with various partner organisations and individuals in the city.We have a particularly close working relationship with a wide range of staff from many different departments of Plymouth City Council who are invaluable in terms of helping us make your neighbourhood a safer and better place to be.

For example we rely on the Council’s Anti Social Behaviour Unit for specialist help in securing ASBOs, court injunctions and drug den closures. We work alongside this unit and local housing officers in any cases where residents may be evicted from their homes.

When it comes to common problems such as graffiti, littering, dog fouling and noisy neighbours, we join forces with the Council’s Environmental Protection Team to deal with offenders. And in dealing with young people who are either causing trouble in their local communities - or are likely to get drawn into anti social behaviour - we team up with the Youth Offending Service, various other Council youth services and local schools.
