Neighbourhood Policing

Police Force:
Find a Local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

Newton Abbot Town West has a population of over 11000 people in over 5000 properties. The Beat is based around the Bushell and Bradley Town Council wards. It is mainly urban, with the majority of residents living in Newton Abbot but the neighbourhood does include a number of villages and hamlets, including Highweek and Seale Hayne.

Much of the activity, commercial, social and policing is focused in the Town Centre area due to the concentration of shops and licensed premises.

Newton Abbot is a safe place to live with the likelihood of being a victim of crime being well below the national average. In addition the incidents of serious crime are very low indeed.

The main problems are spontaneous incidents of vandalism committed by those passing through the area. There are also problems with fear of crime. Some of this is created by differing views of what is acceptable causing relatively low level behaviour being interpreted as a significant threat.
