Neighbourhood Policing

Police Force:
Find a Local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

Exminster is the largest village in our neighbourhood. It is a semi-urban village situated on the outskirts of the city of Exeter.

The population is varied – we have young families and also professional people who live alongside retired members of society.

Exminster is an expanding and prosperous village but it has retained its village charm and sense of community.

The Exminster & Rural Neighbourhood Team also oversees several other rural villages, which are situated between Chudleigh and Exeter including Doddiscombsleigh, Dunsford, Whitestone, Tedburn St.Mary, Holcombe Burnell, Ide, Dunchideock, Shillingford St George and Kenn.

The team is one of five Neighbourhood Teams which work out of Chudleigh police station and Ashburton.

The communities of Exminster and rural is a safe place to live with the likelihood of being a victim of crime falling well below the national average. Serious crime rates are very low.

The crimes we deal with are mainly spontaneous acts of vandalism and low-level thefts – many of which are committed by people who are passing through the area.

Community members have raised concerns about antisocial behaviour by young people in Exminster and while we are tackling this problem it is important to remember that Exminster is a very safe place to live and the young people of the village are its future.

It must be stressed that the issues raised during our consultation process related to a very small group of offenders. The majority of young people in the village contribute greatly to its environment and character.

If you have any comments or concerns you’d like to raise please email the team and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
