Blindside LaneSun, Aug 24, 2014 at 4:15pm
Blindside Lane is a steady uphill climb I use for cycle training six days a week and is a narrow lane that has been recently tarmaced. It rises to about 800ft at the summit and is a steady climb not to steep with unerlating sections, there is very little flat section to this road. it has shrubery at both sides with a Cattery about a quarter the way up followed by a property opposite and a second property a hundred yards further up then nothing until you get near the top and a right lane drops down into a farm. The road from bottom to top is around two miles long with beautifull views of the Strines res at the top. This road has a few public footpaths branching off it and is used by walkers and traffic is minimal, I rarely see a car while cycling up it if i'm unlucky I will see one, if i'm really unlucky maybe two buts thats rare and is usually the post van. There is no accomadation on this road but starts about half mile above Low Bradfield Village and is accessed from The Sands. There is no bus route up this hill but the bus finishes about 600 yards from the start so is handy for people who don't drive. For walking its best accessed from New Road opposite The Plough pub and then brings you directly onto Blindside and then you have a choice of different walks off it. At the summit it is Moorland with a right turn to The Peak District and a Left turn to Ughill and Dungworth. If driving up or down Blindside beware its very narrow and has very few pull ins to pass an on coming car.

Pleasant quiet road, not a rat run. Sadly must leave after 26 years as house now too large.

Hird StreetThu, Aug 14, 2014 at 4:29pm

Hird Street begins at Hargreave Terrace.  The only building there now is the Darlington Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Christian worship services are on saturdays (the Bible Sabbath) 10 am Bible Study all ages, 11.30 am Family Worship. All welcome.  the rest of Hird Street is the Darlington Borough Council car park
