We moved into our property in Hawthorn Road over 41 years ago on my return from service in the Falkland Islands. It was a very quiet road with only two other houses beyond ours at the end of the road where the old Black Isle railway ran.

Over the years another 10 properties have been built at the start of the lane. When natural gas was piped in we were told”you are outside the village boundary” so we had to choose either LPG or oil. The only problem that exist is in the winter, when we do not get rubbish collection as the road has snow and the gritters do not bother to come up.

Apart from that it’s quiet and we see wild life in the field in front of our house, with Red Kites,Buzzards, Jays and some many other birds.
