A brilliant opportunity has arisen for a Care Support Assistant in an outstanding and modern Special Needs school and residential home in Swanage. This beautiful school has fantastic facilities for the students and staff.

The job involves enabling our young people to develop by providing physical and emotional support. The role is about working as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our young people first.

The school is for young adults who have various abilities, from autism and moderate learning difficulties to complex and profound needs. The post requires talented SEND RSW / Special Educational Needs Residential Support Workers who are flexible, enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting and caring for young adults with educational needs. The team are welcoming, friendly and dedicated to the school and students.

To work in this setting you MUST;

*Be comfortable providing personal care
*Have experience working in special needs or care settings
*Able to be flexible with shifts. There is the prospect of longer days during school holidays as well as waking night shifts.

The role will include working 1:1 with students and supporting them during their day before and after classes. This will include waking them and putting them to bed and supervising meal times.

You will be part of a great team and able to chaperone on some great days out with the students.

The Group's services have a specific focus on children who present high severity needs with challenging behaviours and complex care requirements. Cambian looks after 2,100 children and employs over 4,300 people across a portfolio of 224 residential facilities, specialist schools and fostering offices located in England and Wales.
Purbeck View School is a 38 and 52 week mixed-gender residential school for students aged 7-19 with a diagnosis of autism, or whose difficulties place them on the autistic continuum. Day provision is available for students who live close by.
The schools location in the seaside town of Swanage ensures that integration into the community is a part of daily life. Students have access to all the local amenities, the beautiful Purbeck Hills and coastline trails.
As a Care Support Assistant you will be working in one of the 9 self-contained houses with in the school grounds.
The Role:

You will work both in our formal taught sessions and on our residential accommodations. The rota pattern consists of working a combination of days and nights.
You would work 12 hour shifts, 7am to 7 pm or 7pm to 7am. 5 days one week 2 days the next (That’s 7 working days every 2 weeks)
We have a varied curriculum and you will be required to support sessions with in the classrooms as well as duties around the house.

Your role will be to enable our students, as much as possible, to increase their level of independence. During the evenings and weekends, you will work in our residential accommodations, supporting students with activities of daily living, accessing the community and using public transport.

The role involves assisting with personal care, medication administration and all household activities.
You will be expected to contribute to the writing and reviewing of support plans, risk assessments and completing records. You may be required to undertake a keyworker role for a student, acting as a key contact for the individual, liaising with parents/carers and other stakeholders and contributing to the setting and reviewing of goals. You will need to be able to work with and alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT). You will be expected to participate in training when required;

Candidate Profile
• Enthusiastic, committed and flexible.
• Able to work a rota pattern covering a combination of days and nights, including weekends.
• Able to work shifts
• Excellent communication skills.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Experience working within care or education services, or working with vulnerable people would be beneficial.
• Candidates must be over 21 years of age.
• A full UK driving licence is not essential but would be an advantage due to location of the college.
