Do you have experience working as handyman or caretaker and would consider a 12 month contract?

Would you like to work for a company that can offer stability and progression as well as an interesting place to work?

If you are based in the Ipswich area and answer “yes” to the above then please read on:

Our client is a highly successful FM company providing hard and soft service to blue light contracts on a nationwide scale. They strongly believe great customer service and happy employees are at the forefront of any successful business and strive to achieve this throughout the company. For you, this means working for a company that ensures you will have job satisfaction within your role, as well as a great working atmosphere and an interesting work environment where no two days are the same.

Due to internal promotion (which this company is very good at, so if you're ambitious this is a great stepping stone!) they are now looking for an experienced caretaker to join their team in the East Anglia area. The current caretaker has been seconded for 12 months into a more senior role and this is very likely to be made permanent, which means that for you this 12 month contract could easily become a long term permanent career.

The Role

Reporting to the site manager you will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance such as painting or carpentry alongside ground maintenance.

Although you don’t necessarily need any specific qualifications, experience working in a similar role is essential - we're looking for people that know what it means to walk around a building, spotting areas for improvement and repair jobs and putting plans together to complete various maintenance tasks. You'll be able to put your useful power and hand tools skills to good use!

The ideal candidate

You will ideally have worked as a caretaker or handyman in an educational or hospital environment, a blue light contract would be even better because you'll understand the specific challenges of working in these environments - it is certainly never a dull day!

Good working knowledge of general fabric maintenance is also essential as is a proactive approach to work

Although your working week will usually be Monday-Friday, a degree of flexibility is required as you may need to cover weekends on occasion:

Team player
Previous maintenance experience
Can prove basic electrical and mechanical skills
Basic ICT skills
Hold a current clean driving licence

What’s on offer

Salary of £18,475
22 days holiday + stats (this goes up to 25 days after level of service)
Opportunity for training
Opportunity for progression
A great team to be part of!
