Do you enjoy inspiring and connecting children with nature? Are you flexible and want to be part of a busy and dynamic team at one of the UK's best wetland nature reserves, which lies within the fabulous Avalon Marshes area of Somerset? We are looking for a highly self-motivated individual to join our Ham Wall team to deliver our growing Avalon Marshes Schools on Reserves programme.

Hours: Part time, 15 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

You will need to be great at prioritising and organising your busy workload, with excellent communication skills, and a friendly and welcoming nature. Knowledge of delivering learning to schoolchildren, and of working with volunteers is essential. You'll need confidence and the ability to facilitate a day's programme in the field with a group of students and their teacher.

The role also includes recruiting and managing volunteers, promoting to schools and keeping our education programmes up to date with the National Curriculum and teaching practice.

This role is part time, averaging out at 15 hours per week. Due to the seasonality of school visits, we will expect hours worked per week to vary, with more hours worked in the spring and summer terms, and less across the summer holidays and winter time.

Partnership working:

We work closely with Natural England to deliver a joint Schools on Reserves package. You will be expected to develop and maintain this partnership.

The RSPB is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to the appropriate safeguarding checks upon appointment.

This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.
