Our client is a well-established refrigeration rental business. They supply the leading supermarkets with temporary units, supply the largest food exhibition in the world, and the most prestigious events such as Wimbledon Then Championships, Glastonbury and Goodwood.

They provide installation, unwrapping and placement where the customer needs it. For this reason the work is different to traditional drivers who are unloaded at site. The teams unload themselves, and physically deliver the items.

In addition, they supply flat packed cold rooms. These rooms are sent in the vehicles and need built on site. The drivers and porters are responsible for doing this. For these reasons, the drivers and porters need to be robust, and physically capable of carrying out the work required.

The porters need to be able to manage themselves to a high level, show and use initiative, and continue to be diligent in their work. We also expect high standards in terms of appearance, all staff are to look presentable as they are customer facing, and must wear uniform at all times.

Other duties will include assisting the driver with Pre inspections of vehicle and load inspection.
Navigation
Responsible for interacting with the customer on site regarding delivery and collection.
Assist with unloading of vehicle
Inspect good for damage and mark accordingly on delivery and collection
Provide the link between the delivery team and Logistics management team, reporting ETA’s, and any issues.
Assist in daily cleaning of the cab to maintain a hygienic environment

The hours are not always 9-5, most of the drivers and porters have early starts and finish around 3. That being said where needed they can be asked to deliver late in the evening.
