Position: Project Manager Contract Role 6 months– Clinical Information Systems

Package: Competitive daily rate 35 hour working week

The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager who will be responsible for the management of the development and implementation of a complex clinical information system into a number of prestigious healthcare organisations throughout the UK.

The candidate must have a proven track record in healthcare software project management, ideally working for or within an NHS clinical setting. The candidate needs a broad understanding of healthcare policies and procedures, clinical terms and the current drivers in healthcare practices. The candidate needs to understand software well and would benefit from having a good technical knowledge.

The Project Manager will be the conduit between the customer and Hicom’s development and delivery teams so excellent organisation, communication and inter-personal skills are essential. The candidate must be professional, results orientated, flexible and able to work well under pressure.

Required Experience

* Minimum 3 years’ experience in the management of large-scale and complex healthcare software solutions

* Comprehensive understanding of NHS clinical workflows and processes

* Proven strategic/project governance experience

* Comprehensive understanding of clinical software architecture (EMR, PAS, etc.)

* Experience of working with project methodologies such as PRINCE2® and Agile

* Familiarity of Open Source methods and technologies is desired but not essential

* Experience of ophthalmology clinical workflows is desired but not essential

Essential Competencies:

* Highly organised with an ability to manage and execute tasks effectively within a high-pressured environment

* Ability to co-ordinate and manage expectation of a number of different stakeholder groups

* Proactive and with the ability to work well under pressure

* Ability to prioritise tasks to meet frequently changing operational and client demands

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Ability to co-ordinate and communicate with the client at all levels (including CIO, CTO and CCIO)

* Ability to work constructively as part of a large team

* A flexible approach to work and a ‘can do’ attitude

Job Specification:

* Developing and maintaining detailed project plan for both operational and management purposes

* Monitoring progress of the project to ensure agreed plans are being met

* Daily liaison with the different stakeholder groups, including internal and customer teams

* Liaising with the customer to agree the scope of work and appropriate priorities

* Review customer requirements and functional specifications to ensure a comprehensive understanding of future workload

* Monitoring and assisting with capacity planning

* Assisting with the organisation of work for the development teams

* Identifying project risks, potential delays and dependencies and initiating corrective action as appropriate

* Producing relevant and timely reports on project activity to the customer and project team

* Participating in (and actively contributing to) regular customer workshops and meetings

The Appointment Process:

Interviews will be conducted at our offices in Brookwood and should last approximately 90 minutes. The interviewee with be required to give a brief 15 minute presentation on ‘Risk Management methodology and tools within a software project environment’. During the interview, the candidate’s career and education history will be reviewed. Selection/psychometric tests may be used. Ample time will also be available during the interview for questions.

Depending on the number and suitability of the candidates interviewed, a second round of interviews may be arranged.
