About Our Client

Our client is a leading Californian owned technology company, specialising in loss prevention and asset management solutions for retailers around the world. Due to growth in the 2019 sales pipeline, the UK operation is undergoing a structural change from a remote sales office set-up to a self-supporting branch and so there is a need for a permanent accountant to join the team to help transition and lead the accounts function from our corporate offices to the UK.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will observe and understand the current methodologies ahead of transitioning the accounts function across to the UK. You will work under your own initiative as well as with outsourced specialised providers and manage them as your resource, ensure all legal and tax compliance objectives are met and work to ensure the UK operation is a financially successful business. You will work with all members of the UK team, members of the US accounting team and occasionally with member of the European team, the CFO and CEO.

This role will provide the entire accounts function for the UK. As the operation grows there will be opportunities for you to grow too and expand your department.

Job Description:

Responsibilities and Duties:

Design, set up and implement the UK accounts function

Treasury Management, bank payments, cash forecasting, credit card reviews etc

Legal compliance, VAT filing, company accounts filing, tax payments etc

Monthly reports to CFO and UK Directors

Ensuring Sales invoices are raised, and receipting schedules completed

Assisting with inventory management, receiving and internal P/Os

Application of remittances, managing AR

Any other expected general accounts duties

The Successful Applicant will have the following:

Fully recognised accountant qualification – CIMA preferred

Experience of working within a Global organisation (US owned) with knowledge of transfer pricing models

Takes full ownership and responsibility

Flexible approach, doesn’t mind performing a broad range of work, accounts assistant tasks as well as detailed legally compliant reports

Self-assured, willing to challenge processes in a respectful manner

Experience of using in house software and proficient level of Microsoft is essential, experience of Navision would be a distinct advantage.

Occasional travel to the USA may be required

Salary: Pro-rata salary of £40 to £45k

Hours: 24 hrs p/week + O/time when necessary

Regular need for overtime (i.e. month end etc) and for the first few months it will likely be a full time role, so someone who can be flexible with their work patterns or hours of work would be perfect.

YOUR ROLE

As our Bid Writer, you will be working as a key member of the Highways Business work winning team to create effective yet imaginative responses to pre-qualification and tender questionnaires. You’ll Contribute to the bid team at key stages of individual tender projects, gathering technical information from internal departments in order to compile and ensure a high quality, bespoke solution is offered to the client. You will actively participate in story boarding and development of strategic themes, proof reading material and providing technical and commercial writing skills. This is a great opportunity for you to showcase your written creative talents.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

* Proven experience as a Bid Writer in a similar role ideally working on construction or engineering related projects. Exposure on highways projects would be advantageous but by no means essential.

* Written creative flair able to articulate compelling tender responses.
