Job Title : Electrical and Electronic Technician (Part Time: Nominally
2 Day/Week, Flexible Working) Purpose Dstl’s Resilient Position
Navigation and Timing team deliver high impact, cost effective advice,
underpinned by research, test and evaluation, to UK MoD, wider
government, the global scientific community and UK industry. A
significant part of the underpinning research, test and evaluation is
trials work that requires the team hold significant electrical and
electronic assets. When not in use these assets require tracking,
testing and maintenance, before use they require transporting and
setting up and after use need packing away and returning. Dstl
therefore need a part-time Electrical and Electronic Technician who
can work flexible hours, mostly indoors at Porton Down and Boscombe
Down but where necessary at outdoor trials locations where they may be
required to stay away from home for several days.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 Track assigned electrical and electronic assets (we occasionally
lend them out).

 Ensure the assets are maintained in accordance with a schedule,
cognisant of planned usage.

 Identify faults in the assigned assets, cognisant of planned usage.

 Recommend whether faults should be fixed internally, externally or
the item replaced.

 Fix faults that the team agree should be fixed internally.

 Ensure that faults that the team agree should be fixed externally,
get fixed, cognisant of planned usage.

 Ensure that items that the team agree should be replaced are
replaced and that the old item is disposed of according to the
appropriate rules (some items will be classified), cognisant of
planned usage.

 Transport, set up and strip down equipment for trials.
