Job Purpose

To conduct work activities ranging from sample preparation, prototype device testing through to resolve problems or challenges defined by management aimed to support the development of Tobacco Heating Products and its delivery.

Principal Accountabilities

* Sample preparation, prototype device testing to resolve problems or challenges aimed to support the development of Tobacco Heating Products and its delivery;
* Develop new working procedures/ methods to increase productivity and quality on product development activities;
* Product performance and Quality Assurance testing;
* Identify and suggest changes to operating procedures/ product specifications for subsequent approval;
* Actively contribute to the generation of external technical reports, publications and presentations through data and project support activities;
* Develop new more efficient working procedures/ methods by objective evidence and validation for Management/ Technical Review;
* Maintain and increase awareness of technical development on Tobacco Heating Products (THP).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

* A degree in one of the physical sciences, engineering or related areas;
* Previous experience in a similar role;
* New product development knowledge;
* Ability to demonstrate projects undertaken have been satisfactorily completed within agreed timescales;
* Ability to work independently.

Portswood Neighbourhood is divided into three wards Portswood, Bassett and Swaythling. All Officers covering these wards are based at Portswood Police Station. Portswood Ward is led by PS Paul Morton with a team of 2 PCs and 3 PCSOs. The Ward covers Highfield, St Denys and Portswood High Street, as well as Southampton University Campus. It is a densely populated area, with lots of student Housing and four schools.

Bassett Ward is also led by PS Alex Peacock with a team of 2 PCs and 3 PSCOs. This Ward coves Bassett, the west of the Flowers Estate and the southern part of Lordswood. It is a predominantly affluent residential area, containing University premises and Halls of residence, as well as five schools. It also covers The Sports Centre and Southampton City Golf Club.

Swaythling Ward is led by PS Paul Morton with a team of 2 PCs and 2 PCSOs. The Ward covers the east of the Flowers Estate, Mansbridge and Hampton Park. This is a busy residential area made up mainly of families and students, with two of the University Halls of Residence in the area. We have a number of green spaces on the Ward, including Daisy Dip and Monks Brook, as well as commercial premises on Burgess Road and three schools.
