Barrow Hill, Ashford, Kent

I lived at no 5 Barrow hill place in the early sixties to early seventies I was a young boy of 4 when we moved there with my parents and siblings. I used to attend st Mary’s school around the corner. Would love to know if the property remains as one house as it used to be when I was a child. Our lounge was in the basement as was the kitchen and my bedroom and parents bedroom on first floor, my room was at the front with large dividing doors to my parents bedroom which overlooked the back. Following the next flight of stairs upwards you came to the bathroom/ toilet/ although we had an outside toilet. Next flight of stairs led to one large bedroom at front and one small at rear , my sister’s had the large bathroom. The final two flights took you to another three rooms

The front of the property had its only access directly to the basement down the steps . The road wasn’t open plan like it is now , we had fences hedgerows and our own little garden which sat opposite the gravel rd that used to be there . There was a small garden at the rear more like a yard where our w.c was and a gate which led out to the rear lane back of new street were the bin men used to collect our bins . Happy childhood memories . I am now 70 yrs old and still hold on to them.
