Colebrook & Newnham has a population of approximately 6,000.

Colebrook is varied in terms of housing and population with new and old properties and a good mix of age groups. Newnham consists of two newer housing estates and also has mixed age groups.

The main street in Colebrook village has the majority of retail outlets and small businesses whereas Newnham has none. Therefore, Colebrook village is really the hub of the community. There is a large community centre, which runs a number of varied activities for all age groups.

Both areas are considered safe places to live, however there are sporadic incidents of antisocial behaviour and speeding, both of which have been highlighted through the 'Have Your Say' process.

Fear of crime is a problem in some quarters, much of which is created by differing views on what constitutes acceptable behaviour, with low-level incidents being interpreted as threatening.
