Can anyone clear my confusion, please? From September 1949 to June 1950 I lived at number 7 Havelock Close, Felpham. I was only 6 years old but my memory tells me that the living room window was on the left of the house looking at it from the street. Yet, going to Felpham a short while ago I found that it was on the right hand side. Is there any logical reason? I doubt that renumbering took place, although nothing is impossible. In your listing above you do not list number 5. Does this have any significance or bearing?
Incidentally, I find it unnerving how little the close has changed, although the trees are sadly gone.

I attended the village school in Felpham, now a block of flats. We ran across the playground in all weathers to the lavatories set apart from the school. Economies were still in existence in 1950 and we had exercise books that were cut in half.
Where has the River Rife gone? Surely memory hasn't failed me there, too! I have so many vivid memories of those few months I lived there. Wasn't there a sea wall? There was a fisherman called Stan. In winter I would lie in bed and believe that the sea, when stormy, would come to capture me.
