Prestidge Row , Moreton Pinkney was so named as many of my ancestors lived there in the 17 and 1800's . I have visited Moreton Pinkney on three occasions, and been made very welcome by several of the people living there. It is a nice village, and I am proud to have a connection to it. I believe there is a Partridge Lane in ?Eydon, which was mis spelt and supposed to have been Prestidge Lane.
There were many Prestidge's living in the surrounding villages for years. My gr grandparents Jesse and Jane (nee Dunkley) Prestidge, came to New Zealand on the "Lancashire Witch" in 1863, settling in Canterbury, although they had lived some years in Rugby, prior to leaving the UK.
I understand several of the ancestors were know as somewhat renegades at one stage, called the Moreton or Culworth Gang!! . I have been doing my family tree for some years, and have hit a "Brick Wall" as far as Elizabeth Hickerson's parents, being unable to find a baptism for Elizabeth, c 1740 which may help find the names of the parents. Elizabeth Hickerson married John Prestidge in Hellidon, 1764, and they intended to live in Priors Hardwick, but the Parish sent them off to Moreton Pinkney on horseback!.. If anyone can help with info on where I should look re Elizabeth's parents I would be most grateful.
